Youth for Peace: We have introduced the Youth for Peace Programmes of Gandhi Peace Foundation, Chennai in our institution in order to develop the leadership qualities of our students. Interact Club: Interact Club of Vel's Higher Secondary School functions under the guidance of the Rotary Club of Anna Nagar. It aims to develop leadership skills and personal integrity. Interact club helps the students to understand the value of individual responsibility and hard work. Leo Club of Pallavapuram: We have started a Leo Club under the guidance of the Lions Club of Pallavapuram from this academic year. Literary Association Activities: In order to strengthen the creative writing and communication skills, various activities such as poetry writing, essay writing, debates, elocutions etc., are organized. Science Club: Our students are encourages to participate in the various activities conducted by the Tamil Nadu Science Forum. The Madras Science Foundation and other such organizations. Project: Our students are given opportunities to participate in various science projects conducted by the reputed schools of Tamil Nadu. Project work is an integral part of the school curriculum. It is proposed to conduct an inter-school science project in our institution every year. Personality Development Programmes: In order to build the self-esteem of our students, a number of personality development programmes are organized. Futurology: Futurology classes help to develop futuristic thinking. Cricket: Young cricket enthusiasts of different groups can avail of special training under experts on the school ground. Karate, Table Tennis & Chess: These components of the Cultural academy are a unique feature of Vel's, which seeks to emerge as an epitome of Indian culture.
